Hi, went to look at a 2CV last night, the bodywork would be best swept up with a broom, but it seemed to be sitting on a very substantial chassis. Galvanised, no bottom plate. The top plate had been galvanised, but had rusted - possibly due to some 'one' welding now extremely crusty floor patching to it. Sorry for the lack of photos, any suggestions as to what this might be, its not a Frome / Wheels type, much more substantial. I'm hoping to could be an SLC, but I'm not sure. Any links or photos much appreciated. Cheers Julian. |

If you're down south maybe it's one of these: http://www.totally2cv.com/ (click on "Parts" to see the chassis). A good way to check might be to have a look at the bulkhead: Totally2CV (ie Geoff Colmer) always replaces the bulkhead when he replaces the chassis, so it'll probably be in better condition than the rest of the car. My snail is on one of his chassis. It's very good, imho. |

Just enough so that it fits onto an Acadiane chassis and running gear... |

Thanks I think it might be one of Kens, it doesn't have the diagonals. What do you think about the rusty top, does that make sense? |

Julian, welding onto a galvanized sheet would destroy the zinc coating in the proximity of the weld. If that chassis has 50mm wide flanges on its channel section side rails and legs, also slotted suspension carrier tubes both front and rear as well as Citroen type damper studs, those would be pointers... ken JulianS wrote: Thanks I think it might be one of Kens, it doesn't have the diagonals. Thanks Ken, that's what I thought, they've made it rust with their genius welding. I'll have to have another look to check the flanges etc, but i think it probably is one of yours unless someone was making close copies. Just a shame about the body and floors, endless plates and filler. |
