I intend overhauling the rear brake on my car,do i really need to buy a tool to centralise the brake shoes?
Shes a 1989 Special.

Yes, if you want to avoid noisy brakes and uneven wear.

I dont think you need the tool. Just put the big nut on, and hold a bent allen key, or something similar firmly to it, and then you can easily check the adjustment of the shoes by turning the nut. If you have a welder, you can make you're own tool. I had a picture somewhere.....

Vikingen found the one I was thinking of, but i found one of my own, how I did it without making anything. (I know, I'm lazy)

Just turn the nut, while holding the allen key to the nut, without moving them in relation to each other. It requires steady hands though, witch I have ;)
