anyone bought anything similar off the roll to replace the original grey floor matting , as mine has a big bit cut out of it and its tatty its got a slight crossed embossed pattern and has a horse hair backing but im thinking something rubber backed would be better can i just buy a 2cv flooring and trim it? thanks matt |

I'm pretty sure that flooring is made from unobtanium. I think 2cvgbs ami registrar told me once you can buy it for a DS, but they won't make it Ami shaped. 2CV matts might be trimable, (is that a word?) but you will probably have more sucsess with a roll of carpet made to size. |

just had a look on woolies web site, they do some stuff called Hardura which come in 2 types one 3 mm and one 6mm so they are sending a sample of that i suppose i could just get some carpet and cut that to size but im trying to keep it looking original as possible |

Hardura isn't suitable to make flooring out of, it is used to trim the sides of the boot and bulkheads under dashboards. |

A couple of weeks ago I bought a cheap piece of carpet and cutted a new flooring for my Ami. With 30 euro's and 1 hour work and I was ready.   Look for something with an actionback and not a foamback. Foam doesn't breath and you get rust easily. It doesn't cut out verry good either. 2cv flooring is too small to fit in a Ami. So that doesn't work.

Carpets and A series cars just don't go together, as far as I'm concerned. The ones which really wind me up are where the carpet has either been glued to every available surface including the boot floor, or clamped underneath the seat runners. The resultant increase in the rate of corrosion can be spectacular... That's why you need a carpet with an actionback and no foamback. To make it breathe. So the moist/damp can go out easy. A rubber floor is a bad idea. Moist/damp stays under it, with corrosion as a result. I can make some pictures from my Ami this week. |

i just received the samples of Hardura today they do 2 thicknesses,the thinner one is pretty much the same as the stuff thats fitted already,its a horsehair fibre back with a dimpled rubber/vinyl top on it only comes in 1 width though so i need to check that out its £16.50 a metre,still toying with the idea of carpet.... |

I know it's more applicable to 2CVs than Ami, purely because of the different markets they were aimed at, but how about "no flooring"? I did have carpet in the Bedouin (to see if it reduced noise), now I have rubber matting (easier to clean & can be easily removed to keep an eye on moisture) but am considering removing it altogether. If it's ok for Land Rover Defenders.... |

The previous owner of my Ami drove it without flooring. This is also questionable (is this an englisch word?) Because the back of your shoe grinds of the paint of your floorpanel, with also more rust.  I think a flooring is the bvest option. Carpet or rubber if you get it out sometimes and especialy when it's wet.
