show me your guns...
...grease guns, that is!
i'm looking to buy a new grease gun & really want a cartridge type to replace my old bulk fill jobby.
Anyone got any recommendations for a reasonably priced pumper?! Also, what grease are you using/would you recommend?
cheers

Neil, haven't got a picture of mine, but for about 10 to 20 euros/pounds you should be able to get a greasegun for carteridges. The grease I've used was just the grease from the local farmer & DIY shop in my village, which was mostly "Croon" grease. I think any decent make will do.

Neil, for an A series, this is the 'one and only'... Ebay item # 270354860148 or if you're feeling flush/wanna show off... #120386688096
Ken.

Re: show me your guns...
i've got a pair of wanners at present - mine don't take cartridges, Ken. i'm wanting a cartridge type gun as it shouldn't be messy & less chance of contaminants falling into the grease...

Re: show me your guns...
I bought one recently made by 'pressol' (german), it came from my local engineering shop and cost around 10 to 13 quid, can't remember exactly. I haven't used it that much yet but I know the guy who sold it to me quite well, and he wouldn't sell them if they were shite. One thing I will say, don't buy a cheap one, there's nothing more annoying/messier than stripping down a grease gun trying to figure out why it won't work.

Re: show me your guns...
I can't remember the make of grease gun I have but I use Castrol LMX grease, (which is also rated for -30 to 40 use). As the 4x4 has around 21 grease points I've found the grease good for kingpins, drive shafts and wheel bearings and has been used in Raid Laponie 2004 and Raid Poronkusema 2009.
I used to get annoying air locks in the grease gun using different makes/types but using this stuff seems to have eradicated that issue.
If you buy a box (12) it works out pretty reasonable and is available thru Castrol Classic oils on (+44) 01954 231 668.
