 Track rod removal tool anyone ever made one of these (or something similar to do the job) to save me shelling out £56.00

Re: Track rod removal tool I usually undo the nut, leave it on the thread to protect it, gently lever the rod forward away from the rack (maybe with a bit of wood in there to stop your 4' crowbar doing damage) then give the nut a sharp clout, and it should come off the tapered bit.

Re: Track rod removal tool Thank you gentlemen, I might have a play in the garage today (today we need rain) then I will have a go at making one, if I don't succeed Neil I may take you up on your offer, although we should have one with us whilst racing.
Ken do we need to keep the rubber or can we just remove it and throw away?
Sean/Russ - I would normally use one of these methods, I need to use the gentle approach, as we want to too see if we have damaged the rack, so I don't want to add any extra forces/damage etc. etc.
