I have a new problem, i'm getting bad vibrations through the steering mainly when driving over rough patches in the road. i'll ride over bumps and the steering shakes and goes rugadugadugaduga and seems to shake for a while after the bump too and if i hit a rough area on a slight bend (mainly 45mph and above, 65ish) it under-steers badly sending the car off course slightly :?

obviously i've not checked anything yet, just wondered if anyone has had any experience of this or knows the cause of the problem.

I think it could be the king pins or possibly the shocks? i've greased the kingpins and drive shafts but that doesn't seem to have helped.

maybe the plate the shock bolts to on the arm is loose? Didn't we do a bit of a bodge on that?

bodge!? no! we only drilled the hole in the plate a little to get the bolt lined up. a shock plate did come loose on the way back from cz but i didn't notice it at all. max saw it hanging when we arrived at a campsite :lol:

i'll check anyway tho ;)

IIRC it was an old arm which was off a Frotteur equipped car, I drilled the holes out and reinforced the lugs, I guess there might be a danger they have snapped off?

I think it's the kingpins. Mine is doing this and it's got four new shockers on it. My kingpins have, er, quite a lot of play in them. The problem has got a lot less noticeable since I fitted four new tyres. Or maybe I've just got used to it. :)

IF.........they haven't just checked and all shock nut and mount plate bolts intact and not loose

i'm thinking now, could it be axle arm bearings or even loose axle :shock:

track rod ends... when mine went on D*lly I could barely turn without wobble and thrown off in mystery direction... didnt like the bumps either... are yours worn or loose? if so dont tighten them up as they might snap off if the have gone oval. best getting some new race spec ones that have been strengthened.

Just an idea... might not be!

dont think it's as extreme as that H, i've go exactly the same thing, and i always get it when going round a certain downhill left hander on the way home from the unit, but i have noticed it other places! i checked and there seems to be abit of play in the o/s kingpin... although lily's kingpins where both.... fubared... and i never noticed anything like this...

just seen tims post (as i was typing so slowly like a grandma because for some reason when i type normally half the letters dont come out... (only on the forum :/ ) so i have to type like a granny!

we had pops up on the ramp yesterday, couldn't find any movement in the trackrod end tim... but it does do the same as what you've just said... sometimes it will wobble for quite a while, first time it happend i thought i was loosing a wheel!

Maybe this guide ring is worn badly or cracked
