Post Petrol and Diesel
STUPID BOY
So just went and filled up the AUDI A2 TDI (DIESEL) and put 38p worth of unleaded in it before spotting that I picked up the wrong nozzle - filled it and over filled with about £28.00 worth of diesel - Should be ok - what do you all think?

we used to put a gallon of petrol in our wagons at work in the winter to stop the diesel freezing, so I think you'll be ok with 38pees worth, which at current prices will be half a thimblefull.

38p... About a mouthful...

It's a PD engine, rather than common-rail, so it's not going to be quite as horrifically expensive if it does all go south - the high-pressure pump is built into the injectors. Mind you, the injectors are FEROCIOUSLY expensive... A quick google suggests new 'uns are the thick end of five hundred quid. Each.

If you've already started it since, it's academic!

Ginger - that'd be before common-rail. You really, really, really don't want to muck up on one of them - instead of fuel pressures around 3bar on a normal petrol injection, they're running at anything up to several THOUSAND bar injection pressures... Those are seriously scary tolerances in the pumps.

I put 4 3 liters of Diesel in the 2cv once. There was smoke. Lots of it. For a while.

So I kept topping her up with Petrol and she was fine after a day or so.

Could be worse. At least there's only three of the little buggers.

I've always quite liked the A2.

Why?

It's a technically unorthodox attempt to do something _different_ in a horribly dull market segment. Something we could do with more of in new car showrooms...

Its never sold very well though has it, I wonder why. Saw a DS3 in the flesh last week. I am impressed, it really does look different.
