Hello chaps. What difficulties, if any, am i likely to run into if i swap my Acadiane arms for 2cv items? The bearings are different, but i'm guessing that's not a problem? Am i right in thinking the knife edge pick-up points different, i.e. further from the arm hub giving a lower rate of leverage & thus increasing stiffness of suspension? The Acadiane will be low, so would i be better off having the original arms corrected or fitting a pair of already corrected 2cv arms? Many thanks. |

Which bearings are different? The arm bearings or wheel bearings? When we took the bamboo to wales it had one acad arm and one 2cv arm on it, So theoretically you can swap them. if I remember right the knife edges are in a different place but I've never tried two sets back to back and seen what a difference it makes. I think you could use some corrected 2cv arms which are plentiful and easy to find, and save the acad arms should you ever sell it or want it standard again, or, it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility to re-alter the acad arms if you did have them corrected. I'm sure this reply has been little use, but if it were mine, I'd probably use 2cv arms and have them corrected. |

Neil, my first acad ran 2CV arms (was a quick fix for knackered king pins). Aside from wheel bearing diameters I can't say I noticed any difference. |

So chaps, where have all these Acadiane arms gone?  Might have a check tomorrow on exactly how much the effective front spring rate is increased by replacing the original arms with 2CV/Dyane/etc. type, but I've got a feeling that it's not insignificant... ken |

Braved the rain to take some measurements, which suggest that fitting a 'standard' radius arm in place of an Acadiane type increases the effective spring rate by 15%. A quick way to provide imbalance in your suspension, if only one side is swapped? ken. ( p.s.
