yes ! Its not rocket science  most problems occur with the earth, drop the tank and clean up the earth tag or put a ring terminal under one of the screws and earth it to the chassis side mount for the tank  in the mean time undo the connector on the LHS rear wing and earth it the guage on the dahs should read full the voltage at the terminal should be about 8v-10v not 12. sean |

Whilst the earth may be one of the causes for a non working fuel gauge, the problem with them is that they work due to a variable resistor - as the float goes up or down it rubs a little brass strip up and down a wire wound plate. As the car ages, and with many miles under the clock, the actual brass contact, which I think when new has a carbon or hardened contact on it, actual wears out. A quick fix can be to bend the brass contact back towards the wire but this will only last a little while - if you have got the tank out to do this fix, then realistically the only real solution is to put a new sender in I'm afraid. |

Alternatively it will finally kick into action after spending months or even years with the float in the downward (empty) position, as happened to me yesterday. |
