Hi all,

If I get above 45 mph my door(rubbers?) start to whistle... It's driving me crazy on the motorway, what can I do to fix it?

Remove them?

One of my doors still has some, and they whistle when the door isn't properly shut. This seems best adjusted out by loosening the hinge bolts and the star shaped jobbies that adjust that lumpy bit on the door frame for the catch.

Then get a helper to move the door into the best 'shut' position they can by their reckoning, and tighten up the hinge bolts on the inside (assuming its a front door). Then try and work out by iteration where the hinge lump was, and secure it in place by the aforementioned star shaped jobbies.

move the striker plate towards the inside of the car a bit

"star shaped jobbies" = torx format

you can also give the door some "cold setting" by putting your knee in where the latch is and bending the window loop in a bit, not for the feint hearted or feeble of arm

is it the door rubbers or the window gap have you got the foam draught strip attached?

I had draughts in two places causing the roof to whistle.

The worst draft is the gap in the two sheets of glass that form the window. I bought some 'P' shaped draught excluder on both the top and bottom sections of the window. sorted.

Next I put draught excluder on the interior of the front door frame where the door rubber stops. I found that the rubber wasnt quite big enough so the draught exluder stopped any air that was getting around the rubber.

The whistling was caused by the roof rack mounts. After I'd sorted the window draught it stopped.

Before that, I'd used a size 12 spanner (which is also handy for removing battery clips) wedged between the roof rack mount and the roof! :lol:

I puts up with all the whistling, rattling, squeaking, ticking ect. It's a 2cv, that's normal, it's part of it's charm 8-) If my modern car develops any little noise, I'm on it like a buzzard on a rabbit :lol:

Hear hear. During my time at the Citroen dealership in Copenhagen, millions of 2cv's were sold and some or many complained shortly after driving away in their new ''cars''. Wind noise no not from the seat and water coming in. Well we used hours trying to fix the problems, sometimes without success. Told the new owners ''get used to it'' some did.
