Hi. I'm making a new gearbox for the orange 2CV, and now I come to that I should have adjusted the crown wheel. In my Haynes manual says that you must let professionals do, but I never imagined, is of course a mechanic so I have a plan to make it myself. There is an easy way to do it?? |

Ok, super, only needs too adjust the dif. sideways now. Haynes says 0,14-0,18mm of bachlash. Hope it's worth the effort with this gear box, the jump between gears on the dyane gearbox I have driven up to now has been too great. hope this will be better to run with. Have tried to do all gearne as high as possible with the pieces I have available. |

Have tried to do all gearne as high as possible with the pieces I have available. Very good, make sure you have enough shims on for correct load on the bearings. Too much or too little is no good, look to see those needles rolling + no side movement in the crown wheel. Put the skinny shims between others as the get thewed up. |

Best way e mail Rick Pembro 2cv gearbox guru with probably more than 500 2cv gearbox rebuilds he knows all!!! he could build you a hybrid box to make those gaps in the ratios smaller and has done several for me at the shop pony ps setting up the pinion aint hard u just need lots of shims to get the right thickness |

Viking, granted that the selector ring in your picture above is unlikely to work loose, but isn't it easier just to peen the selector ring into the grooves in the sliding pinion? http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3415/3279790960_4b5134e6f1_b.jpg They seem almost custom made for the job of locking the ring...  ken |

When first i saw it i thought it had moved with it being" standard practice" to peen the grooves rather than the lands over hereSean |
