How easy would it be to create an intermittent wiper function? I havnt seen any kits or much help around on the internet so I imagine its quite hard?

I would like it on my Dyane as well as my GS as, in all fairness, it would be very much nicer rather then pushing that button on my dash every 5 seconds or so when driving in the rain or to leave the wipers on and have them squeeking and groaning away.

I understand a relay of some sorts is required but, could anybody help on this? A wiring diagram maybe?

Thanks

I'm convinced you can buy a kit to do it, but I'm not sure where from. I remember an advert in 2cvgb news once offering a kit to make one.

I'm sure that a kit can be got from somewhere like Maplins, Matt S is the sort of bloke who'd know. Matt?
I fitted intermittent wipers to my car, the relay came off a renault* as did the switch. It took a bit of head scratching to work out the connections but isn't really that difficult. I guess you've got access to wiring diagrams for modern citroens, and could find the corresponding parts from a scrap car. Whatever you use you'll need to fit a multi position switch, off/intermittent/on, either from the donor car or an aftermarket job.

*I ripped most of the wiring loom out of a renault 19 that a friend was scrapping about 4years ago, I've not had to buy wire, fuses or relays since, I have scottish ancestry ;) .

David Eden may be the man to contact as the chap who used to do the intermittant wipe mod lived in Thorne near Doncaster and so does David so may well know him.

You can get them from maplins Jack.

And ta Joolz for thinking i may know :)

buy kit and solder it up all yourself. Ive made one before, fitted under dash of dyane.

They are variable as to intermittant - ness with a control potentiometer.

Just ran a check for stock at my nearest Maplin stores - none of them have it in stock at the mo'. Could be because they're making room for more Christmasy stock, or perhaps it's discontinued...

I have to agree, MCR Jack, it would be a bludy useful thing to have. It will require 'casing', of course, and finding a location that doesn't spoilt the beautiful dash layout...

If that's the sort of thing you are looking for, MCRJack, and you aren't up to soldering it yourself, I'd be happy to assemble it for you and post it over - just the price of the kit + postage (possibly a pint if we ever meet up at an event... ;) )

Academic at the mo', since not available. :(
