I brought Cyril to work today cos he's not been out much recently. Unfortunately his nearside sidelights are not working. Both front and back are out although the headlight works on dipped and high beam. I've checked both bulbs in question but they are both fine so I think it must be a dodgy connection somewhere. Any ideas? ![]() |

Lenny, on late cars, the nearside and offside side/tail lights are fused separately. I'm not sure if this coincided with dim-dip being added to the wiring, but suspect that it may do... With the side lights switched on, check for voltage at both ends of the fuses? ken. Lenny wrote: I brought Cyril to work today cos he's not been out much recently. Morning Ken, Out of the five fuses there are two which are live with the sidelights on. There is voltage at both sides of these two fuses. Typical really. Spent the last few weeks bragging to everybody at work that we managed the Alps without skipping a beat, and the first time I come to work in it I have a bit of bother! |

Found the problem by the age old method of connector wiggling. It's the connections where the dim-dip relay has been removed in the past. They're just stuck into the three way connector plug with no protection or insulation (not my doing, I hasten to add) so I presume they're corroding. I'll sort it out properly tomorrow. Cheers Lenny. |
