I recently replaced the battery in mine. £50 from my local wheel and tyre supplier, dunno if it's cheap or expensive, but I was desperate to use the car. Now the battery was knackered and having replaced it I have charging problems. Bought some brushes... They don't fit! Who knew there were different types of alternator? Anywhoo I'm going slightly off topic. How is your bonnet stay shorting? I can imagine how, but my bonnet stay is no were near the battery! I know the battery is longer, and I think you should have got a normal battery James, but half inch or what ever shouldn't be enough for the bonnet stay to touch it?
