I still need one after Czech! None of the flea market traders appeared to have bothered taking one along...

Any of you chaps with lowered cars use these http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/suspension-longer-25mm-than-standard-p-1618.html ??

And how much wear is enough to warrant repairing the tie rod ends? When I last serviced mine (before Czech so about 8 months or 6000 miles ago) there was about 2-3mm or wear on them.

EDIT btw, sorry to drag this up from the depths, but I thought that I'd keep all questions about suspension height/servicing in the same thread

I don't, but if I was going to replace my rod ends I would certainly consider them. Although I would seek assurance about the quality beforehand, as rod ends can wear quickly/oddly if the hardening isn't quite right.

I'm in the 'leave well alone' school of thought. I also like the appearance of 2CV6 set at the right height with it's nose down attitude. It looks just right. In fact when I adjusted mine a few weeks ago I added 10mm to my lengths of measuring wood.

Still each to his own.

Today I have been mostly enjoying standard suspension! The bamboo with its1" ground clearance was a laugh, I've ploughed a fair bit of snow off the lanes anyway..

sorry to drag this up, but im going to lower my car a little bit next week. just in advance, how many turns of the tie rod end equates to how much drop? just roughly. or is it a case of turn a bit, re-connect shock absorbers etc and see how it looks?

Yeah, just measure the height with a ruler under the axle bolts, jack up one side of the car (so both wheels are off the ground) do a few turns, then lower the jack and measure again. Repeat as needed. You shouldn't need to reconnect the shock absorbers just to lower and check the measuring, just make sure you put it back on at the end of the whole process. The front and rear suspension are interconnected remember so what you do at the front one will affect the rear, but just see how it goes with trial and error.

Have fun! personally I prefer a 2cv suspension height

so is it better to loosen off front and rear tie rod ends the same amount? i.e. number of turns, to keep the amount of thread on each one the same?

Sounds logical to me. Try it and see. An experienced lowerer may chime in soon with a more specific recommendation...
