Post Re: BMW 2cv engine conversion
Today of to the RDW again for a VIN inspection Vehicle Identification Number....

There are three parts involved..

Chassis
Body
engine..

At this moment I have only a go for the body.. Hopefully the chassis will follow tomorrow or next week.. The inspector needs to consult his boss about it..

The engine is another story.. I still need more information where the engine comes from Licence plate of the motor cycle where the engine comes from but the dealer doesn't want to give it to me so bugger bugger//

I did some 0 to 60 (and beyond) sprints against my stepsons Saxo 1.6 VTS, 8 valve and I can tell you without decent tuning my Beamer 2cv is equal fast to it already...

All the 1-2-Spark tuners who where at my place know the motorway hill nearby.. a normal 2cv does 80 to 90 km/h going uphill... When I took a look at the speedo of the Beamer 2cv I did more then 120km/h.... So I think I've got my first penalty already because theres a speed-camara over there and you are allowed 100km...

to be continued......

So today I had a phonecall from the RDW...

After 15 minits of talking it comes down to this...

I may not use the chassis anymore, because the chassisnumber isn't original.
I may not use the engine (because I don't know the motorcycle where it came from)
I may (probably) not use the body either because I don't know from which car it comes...

So up to the next chassis, body and engine.....

Merry xmass and a happy new year...

I feel sorry for that. It's not fair. At any way...

I thought that we have odd regulations here in Finland, but now those dutch regulatios really surprised me...

How they can be sure what numbers are original and what aren't? You really can't stamp new numbers, if original numbers have rotten away? And the body, there isn't numbers, chassis have. Or is the body also stamped there when it was new..?

And the engine. I think it isn't your problem if RDW can't find where the engine has been originally. Ok, I understand they want to be sure it isn't stolen, but if you have a proper papers where you have bought it, it should be enough. Here it is, no-one needs to find all history of parts to use...

We had one very exiting conversation with one AZU, with new never used Ami Super chassis without any numbers and GS engine/box. They at first didn't believe we could buy a new chassis without any numbers on them, they just keep asking "what is the car where that chassis is from", but after we told them with some parts catalog they understanded that. Mostly they did that asking because they didn't know those parts had made...

wat a bunch of bureaucrates
. Isn't there anything to find about the car? Under the bagage shelf in the 2cv dash there is a number on an aluminium plate too. With that citroen must know what car the body is from.
