 Re: lead replacements?
James, one of these will do the job fine. < http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DRAPER-PISTOL-GRI ... 1599wt_754 > Here's one in use... < http://www.flickr.com/photos/30132857@N ... hotostream > ken ( p.s. What's this about a coil on the bulkhead? If you've got plug leads which are about twice the length of the original ones, that's not going to work at all well. )

Look at the plug leads on a flat-four. Two are a few inches long, the other two go to the moon and back. Twice.

 Re: lead replacements?
Might depend on whether you're using high resistance leads I suppose. Also worth bearing in mind that the current has to flow through both leads to complete the circuit, so in effect you've already got a metre of HT lead even with the standard set-up. Closer to two metres might be pushing it a bit..!
n.b. The above could all be b****cks

James, I blame Russell ('cos he's used to it.) " Has it still got that wanky coil on the bulkhead or did Sam remove it?" Re: lead replacements?
I'd imagine it's just an ordinary Argentine coil.
