 Re: Another indicator wiring question.
I scratch mine on the underside edge of the lamp bar and the bumper. Quick question while I'm here, does the wing repeater have an earth wire or is it earthed by the bolt holding it on?

 Re: Another indicator wiring question.
Ok. What would cause the rear indicator and the front side repeater on the same side to light up, but not flash, while the front indicator bulb doesn't light up at all? I changed the bulb and made sure the earth was good but no joy, so because the original earth was fubared I removed it and tried with another indicator unit fitted, and that didn't light up either. I've added a new earth above the old one as I can't undo the old nut without destroying the entire thing as it just spins in the fitting. Does that look OK? The power for the side repeater is taken directly from the front indicator power supply so there must be some, it just doesn't appear to want to light up the front bulb. I'm blaming the earth but could there be something that I've overlooked?

 Re: Another indicator wiring question.
The flasher units are an old fashioned bi metallic strip type. Enough current needs to tun through it for it to make an break the contact so the bulb flashes. If the front or rear (big) bulb is not working to current will be too low to make the flasaher unit actually flash. The current draw from the repeater is too low to materially affect it.
If the front flasher isn't working you need to diagnose why?
The bulb doesn't work
You lack an electrical feed
You lack a functional earth
The contacts in the bulb holder arent making proper contact with the bulb.
The earth you show on the light comes off the stud. As someone pointed out the two studs are connect electrically by the spider holding the lamp assembly into the wing. However when it is rusty like yours that connection can be precarious. Have a look to which stud the earth tag in the buld holder actiallu goes and measure whether you have continuity.

 Re: Another indicator wiring question.
You can see the old earth just below the new one that I've added, I connected it to the same stud. What I also did was to temporarily attach a different bulb and earth unit to the power supply in order to test it but that one didn't light up either. The rust on the stud may be causing problems, I've cleaned it up pretty well though. Two new flasher units will cost around sixty quid delivered, so I'd really like to get these one working if I can.

 Re: Another indicator wiring question.
have you put a volt meter to the wires?
if you have current into the light but its not lighting up (ie power isnt getting through the fitting you could drill a small hole in the back and by pass the bolts on the back and solder straight onto the bulb holder, now thats my idea, bearing in mind i havent seen the inside of the indicater before but if it is feesable it may be a good option, also if you go for that option after putting the wire through silocon the hole up to make sure water from road doesnt get into the fitting......
just to rub it in, well not rub it in, but i bought a complete wiring loom yesterday for a pound!
