 Re: AAAARRGGHH! Fitting fuel pump.
Keep and fit the cranked tailpipe, it's looks better than a straight one IMO. I have that type on my car, if you look under the rear wing, you'll find a bracket on the bottom of the inner wing, for the strap. (You may need a different strap though, I did.).

Hi Jonathan.
Thanks for that - I'll certainly investigate that possibility. I do remember seeing 'something' on the rear inner wing bottom edge - never occurred to me that it could be for a bracket!
Would save a lot of hassle, and I agree, the straight sticking out pipe looks carp.
I was hoping to keep things as original as possible, tho'*, but I guess the tail pipe is hardly significant.

That's brilliant, Jonathan - very helpful indeed.
Just about to head out there - if that wing bracket is anything like yours, then cooooooool.
Cheers!

LHD/RHD - it's OK to point the exhaust gases out the corner in LHD countries, since that's not the kerb side - but in RHDland, that's straight at pedestrian's ankles.

Peeps should be honoured to have 2CV exhaust gas pumped over their ankles.
Er, it won't be an MOT issue, will it?

Er, it won't be an MOT issue, will it? I've not had any issues with my friendly MOT Man.

How's the tailpipe fitting coming along, DA?

 Re: AAAARRGGHH! Fitting fuel pump.
Patience! Thanks a million, Jonathan - I've had a looksee, and that bracket it sitting there just begging to be hung upon. So, you've saved me a lot of hassle, and it will also give my rear end a neater look. Ooh-err, missus. Haven't actually got around to fitting it yet, as demands of school kids needing to be driven around took its toll. Perhaps you can help with an associated Q?! The new system came with a full fitting pack. Amongst that lot were two rubber straight hanging straps, one a little longer than t'other. Now, based on the original fitting layout, I placed the longer one further forward and the shorter one at the tail end. However, looking at the 'new' cranked fitting, it looks as tho' it would suit better if the longer strap were at the back and the shorter one forward. As far as I can make out from your photos, that's the way you appear to have them too? Er, could I ask you to, er, um....? Thanks

 Re: AAAARRGGHH! Fitting fuel pump.
I'll refer you back about 8 or 9 posts, to where I said you'd need another strap for it to fit. The rearmost strap is indeed longer Looking forward to some photos
