Bore the U bolt here. When it drops, you have access removing the anti theft device. Just remember that the new lock will last 20 years or so. Not that expensive really

Try spraying WD40 in the lock first. I've had problems with turning the key once inserted, but a quick squirt of WD has done the trick and has lasted. You may find the key inserts once you've tried it. Can't hurt giving it a go.

I have a pretty switch and button which ensures my car can be stolen by anybody who fancies it. No takers so far, but I'm pretty sure it will dissapear at some point, probably a 2cv camp.

Post Re: Can't insert ignition key
Some Dutch words it's to difficult / takes to long in Englisch....

Erasmo, have a look in the lock with a magnifying glass. ... When the the key goes into the lock the tumblers in the barrel get pushed into the contour of your key to allow the lock barrel to unblock and turn. The tumblers are pushed up by a small spring and are pushed down by the key.

It is likely that one of the tumblers has shot too far out because the slot for the tumbler has become worn over time. You can probably push the tumbler back into place with a needle (sowing needle) and a little digging. Probably the tumbler has also moved back a bit, caused by you inserting the key.

Therefore pull first the tumbler back up and then push it back into place. If the tumbler moves back into place and stays there then quickly put your key into the lock and turn ... THEN NEVER REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE LOCK AGAIN ...

I’ve saved many a lock like this .......

If the lock is working again then you can use a junior hacksaw on the side of lock and cut a slot in the sheer nut so you can loosen it and then remove it.. Then you can remove the entire lock and fit a new one.

If the above doesn’t work go and buy the largest flat bladed screwdriver in the DIY shop; preferably with a hexagonal shaft so you can put a spanner on the end of it. Ram this screwdriver into the lock with a heavy hammer until it is 1-2cm into the lock. Put the spanner on it and turn with all your strength.....

Again I’ve unlocked many a lock like this. (both of A types of my own and of others with their approval)

Well good luck with it and let us know if it worked.

There you go, this should be close enough.
