Very true indeed.

The question that arises after that is whether the (relatively small) difference in price between two new chassis is important when you consider the amount of work required to replace it, and the amount of work which usually becomes obvious on the shell when it's apart.

As an example the skeleton of the Mehari you see below was a complete car once.

I drove it home with a brand new CT. I didn't look underneath it as it was pissing down with rain when I bought it and as it was the price of a bag of beans, it didn't matter.

When I took the body and frames off and stood and I mean just stood on the chassis it sank to the ground, folding where they always go.

As to the brand of replacement chassis its a personal choice, but there is a nice man who writes on here who makes lovely ones that are nice a shiny.

Of course I know other people who insist that if you are replacing the chassis it should be a Citroen pattern one.
