Just out of curiosity, have any of those folks that have had such mishaps with 2cvCity kit made them aware of the problem so that it could perhaps be rectified on future products?

I strongly suspect you'd be better off talking to the chassis.

My experience of returning faulty parts to them for a pre-agreed full refund are precisely why I will never buy so much as a bolt off them again.

Yeah it went back a couple of times in a 'why the hell has it started doing this' kind of way. Tony and his son didn't really seem that interested, just said tighten it a bit more. But we managed to get Dave to take it into the back, but all I think he did was put some new washers on, put some threadlock on and torqued it up. It's not done it for a while.

So no modification to the design resulted? That's quite a short sighted approach to take I'm quite surprised at that. I have an early 'Wheels' chassis on mine - which is crap imho, the front wings don't sit properly on it, but once a problem is identified and feedback given surely it's better to rectify the fault than multiply it.

You did nothing wrong, it's common - but don't be tempted to put a new bolt in with threadlock, you'll never get it it out again - you'll end up having to cut off the mounting to get a new one welded on!

In 3 years this has never happened, so I'm kinda guessing I did something wrong when I fitted the new ones :(

If a bit of bolt is sticking out find a slightly bigger nut, place it over the remains of the broken of piece of bolt and weld through the centre of the nut. That will also take care of any thread lock there may be. It should wind out easily.

I've heard three people get chassis replaced after breaking and each one has been told 'we've only seen one other break'

Cheap for a reason.

You've kinda got to feel sorry for 2cv City though as how on earth were they ever going to make chassis that has the same levels of quality and longetivy as the Citroen original?!....... Oh hang on a minute :?

A few months ago I was working on my car and an old chap started to chat to me turned out he was making a B.R.A and had some left over spares from the 2cv that I could have (He had already got rid of the shell and body panels!) turned out to be four boxes full! :D

Anyways.... amongst it all was a bag full off 2cv City chassis (He said they were....non-standard they don't fit anything else I've got!!) bolts and fittings, including the shocker mounting poles.... Any use to Anyone?
