Also where's best place to put sealant? Do i need to take windscreen out, because it looks easy to do it round outside edge but inside looks a pain in butt.

Why would anybody voluntarily go to Halfrauds, when there are half-decent (and considerably cheaper) suppliers for damn near everything on the web?

Do you actually want to seal your vent flap PERMANENTLY closed? Why?

Then forget masticing it shut.

The chances are the leaks from that area are really wiper spindles, rather than vent flap.

It'll stick it down every time you close it and tear itself apart when you open it. Then it'll get all covered in flies and road dirt when it's opened, since it's still tacky...

Is that where it's leaking from, or just where the water's escaping the dash?

Take the plastic dash plank off, dust some talc or similar around, and get somebody to spray a hose at it whilst you watch.

It'll make a horrible mess, it stays permanently black and gooey. Fine in a screen seal. less than desirable in a vent flap.

Post Re: Water creeping around the windscreen rubber
just to go back to this topic

so i finally got round to buying the 3m stuff windscreen sealent that was mentioned, £7 after my 10% discount

anyway, so i put it both sides of the seal, and made sure i had a nice ooz, and its difficult to get of windsheild but is amazing stuff, it goes off a bit but not completly, its amazing stuff, and now no water will get into my windscreen, so hopefuilly my windscreen shouldnt rott out.

anyway while i was in a succesful mood, i removed the two quarterlights, as matt looked at the tell tell signs of its starting to rust, and said i should look,

anyway here are the pics, slightly off topic but not completly irellevant...

so took quarter light out, and it was rusted a tad not to bad though...

anded and red led it....

anyway i put shit loads of blue grease when i put window back, and it shouldnt rust to much now :D

no chance of windscreen water getting in now, :D

for the record, the top side of seal (when you look at bottom of windscreen) is reluctent to budge, i was lucky and managed to get the stuff in both sides of the seal completly sealing it and i did it all the way round, none the less of it not getting wet i just di dit!!
