Joolz, thats fabulous, i bought a R1100 engine about 12 years ago with the idea of doing the same, never did it though. What gearbox are you using? the 2CV one? if so you think it will last?

Gearbox is an LNA but it could do with a 5 speed.

 Re: Bike engines in 2CVs
Matt, place your bets now... 652cc = 33 bhp @ 5,250 & 35 ft.lb @ 3,500 R1150 = 85 bhp @ 6,750 & 72 ft.lb @ 5,250 Considering how many gearboxes the Africar venture went through, using GS engines with about 60 bhp & 64 ft.lb mated to a 2CV box, my guess would be a short but merry life. Unless Joolz holds back on the loud pedal a little. ken

 Re: Bike engines in 2CVs
Joolz, a friend of mine, over near Beverley, got one of those gearboxes as well as a Visa engine from France last year for his Pembleton 3-wheeler. As far as I'm aware, they'd only have been designed to cope with the 652's output, which is why the Belgian racers use GS boxes on the BMW engined racers. On the bright side, isn't exceeding the 'design torque' the real problem, so as long as you're not doing those rather awesome 0 to 60 times too often... ken

I think you're on the nail there ken, keep torque and really hard starts doen, feed the power in and things should be hunky dory
