It was taken from the 2CVGB members handbook. I'm absolutely surrounded by 2cv stuff, so it tends to be to hand!

Sam,
since your wiper motor will be the later type, the crank will be fastened to the spindle via a splined taper.
Those are the only type which can be switched 'right to left' through the vent flap opening, as the crank has to be withdrawn too far on the older motors.
I'm not too sure why the author advised removal of the circlip though, as that's not necessary, in my experience at least...
