I'll post pics up of one of my super rims later - the seams are blown as many are - the tyres off the rim - the paint is still shiny, but the amount of rust bubbling up is scary.

Slightly off-topic(but only slightly  ). I have found that if new wheels are fitted to an otherwise "worn" car, it really makes a difference to the look of it. I had really manky wheels fitted to my 2cv, pre-restoration, I fitted new ones and what a difference! If the car is looking dirty and I don't have time to wash it, all I do if spend 5mins. washing the wheels and spray tyre black on the Michs. Job done, whole car looks clean

It's amazing what a difference wheels make. Retro rides have a mantra of 'rims and slam' meaning fit a set of nice wheels and lower the car, and it usually makes any old crock look seriously cool. Obviously you'd be an idiot to lower a 2cv but even so I agree with Jonathan, nice wheels make a huge difference.

here's a few pictures - to be honest they don't really do the rust justice, it's FAR worse than it looks in the pics...

The whole wheel is lumpy & bumpy & rupturing in the well. Outwardly, although tatty & at the stage where a twatting with a hammer was in order to prevent fouling the kingpins, i've seen a lot worse fitted to cars & have certainly had rims worse than these on my own cars.

Bit of a random one but out of interest has anyone ever had them come apart at the joint?
