how to help stop leaky 2cv
i wasnt sure whether anyone would be interested in this topic, but i thought id do it anyway
i recently posted about doing the por15 in my boot, whilst the paint dried i came up with the idea too try and stop my car leaking, my method may sound mad, but it worked, until today, as i had been shy with me grease!!
basically, i got fed up of getting into the car to find there was more water in the car than out,
so what i did was undid the last 4 bolts on each end of the vent flap, and on the seal i put a bit of grease. after doing this, the car didnt leak one bit (must add i also greased around the wiper spindles) not one drop leaked from where it was, until today. i wasnt thorough enough with my grease, so i went all the way and took all vent flap bolts out
here are some pics..

sorry just thought id show you my new socket set which i picked up today

life time garentee, industrctable tools (but i break them hehe) not cheap either

take the plastic bit off first, including the flag in the corner

didnt notice id taken a shot oy myself in re view!

you will need to take both de misters off and out, i found this easier by taking the 4 screws that hold the dash on and just slipping the dash out the way

take out wiper motor next, do this by unding the nuts on the spindles outside (After removing wiper arms,) and then undo the two bolts inside, i read somewhere that the motor should be kept inthe position that it is removed, not sure if its true or not, but better to be safe than sorry!

you need to start removing the nuts retaining the bit that retains the seal and the vent (also thats my new roof from matt which im very please with!) also by this point you will have wipers removed and motor, just took the shot at a different time

so after taking all of the 5mm (correct me if im wrong i cant remeber now) nuts off, the vent popped of easily, the grease there was from the previous greasing which wasnt enough as it leaked today (only on very very very slightly but i wanted no leak) and it did leak on right hand side but i did leave the vent open

aqquire or get some grease, to apply around the vents seal

apply heavily, dont be shy! put around wiper spindles too, i ran out of light to put it all back together, i used a small ish flathead screw driver to apply it, found it easy!
when you put the vent back in, after tighting down the nuts, if you dont have an ooze of grease then youve been shy!
now some may like or may not like this idea, its a simple fix and a cost effective one, i was going to buy a new seal for my vent but i saw the price so wanted to try something first.
i decided to also post this as ive heard other 2cv'ers having the same leak in the same place etc etc,
im sure most of you will have thought of something better, but i thought id share my idea
also i will post the pics tomrow when i finish putting it all back together
and if you fancy changing the parking position of your wipers take this moment to do it while you have the wiper motor out, if anyone wants i will post tomrow a quick guide as to how to do it, step by step as the haynes manual, well that was useless, and i cant remeber who but someone on here posted me a link to a website that explained it, but its easier in pics, and step by step pics too!
so if anyone wants me to please let me know as i will be happy to do it, but i need to know whether to or not
hope you enjoyed !!!!
