Just change it !

They dont cost much and its not that difficult to do. Which one is it that is split ? Its one of those jobs that isnt too bad.

You will need to do it sooner or later anyway.

Mr Knightley....really can you get an MOT with one glued together ?

It's quite a messy job, so if I can put it off for a time by applying modern materials developed after years of chemical research then I will.

It was a small split and I didn't feel like replacing the boot just then, so I used that stuff experimentally. I thought it might hold for a month or two, but here we are over a year later and it is still fine.

The MOT tester made absolutely no comment about it.

many years ago I 'repaired' one using rubber solution, it worked, and passed an MOT. At the time the car also had some holes in the A panels covered with a piece of plastic margarine tub glued on top. I used cork tile adhesive for that one.
