Post Re: Chassis identification
Thanks Joe, I think its more likely one of Kens as it doesn't have the diagonal bracing shown on the totally 2CV site, but please do add a pic if you have one to hand.

Hi Julian,
that's an early one of mine, Furniss built.

The poor thing definitely needs an oil change, judging by the state of the oil filter. :o

Also, best not to rely on the bonnet catch, as the spring's well past its best... ;)

Thanks, yes the rest of the car is very ropey, lots of bodging, so not changing the filter would fit with its general condition. There are a couple of external bonnet catches. So how old would the chassis be?
cheers
Julian

Julian,
could be pre '98, as from then onwards there were some extra brackets added for a central runner to attach a lower skin, even though that was only fitted for sales to France, Holland, Belgium or anywhere else which asked for it.

Where does that wiring lead to, fitted on the inside of the rails?

Would that be Sam Furniss? Wasn't he involved with a double glazing company as well as engineering?

Paul,
if I'd ever met a Sam Furniss, I might know if he dabbled in both double glazing and engineering.

But I haven't, so I don't...

Hi, didn't log on for a while. On the question about the wiring, its both wiring and a gas pipe. The car is fitted with an LPG conversion. It was only round the corner from me but sold on ebay recently for a daft price, considering how rusty everything above the chassis was, patch upon patch etc.
