when you get a thorn or running reduced pressure a tube will deflate catastrophically wheras a tubless will deflate slowly, thorn dammage can be fixed in situ with tyre on rim using a plug system so the track side repair isnt an issue anymore

only had one puncture the whole Morrocco trip using old italian made firestones.

Like this. Yes tubes no good but plenty of A models here are running with tubes and I wonder how the water can be kept away from the valve

something like punctureseal is a good product for preventing or at least slowing punctures down, it works i have used it on scooters and its saved my arse at 60 mph before. www.punctureseal.co.uk .
As for preventing the ingress of water i'm not sure, maybe an 'o' ring or some silicone sealant?
