I've just used my 2CV to take eight large buckets of rubble down to the tip. I clobbered the shock absorbers on the kerb as I reversed off our drive.

I don't think I'll be lowering mine anytime soon. But I do think they look great lowered. 8-)

haha, i just think that i can afford to go a bit lower than stock (not drastic) my typical day does not involve driving over a ploughed field!

I raised mine the other day.

I had presumed it was at stock height, but was proved wrong when I went to raise it. The tie rod ends are turned all the way in on one side, and very very hard to turn on the other, and its now 30mm above the haynes suggested height.

The rear bumper on the other hand has come up about 120mm.

well, as i sit on both sdes of the fence, both vw and 2cv, i do know that the early beetle drag racers in the '60s lowered the front only fo wind resistance on the drag strip. the later resto-cal boys went further still with multi-spline drops at the rear too. as the watercooled vw adopted much of the stance from the aircoolers and especially the resto-cal boys, the rest is now stance and how much tuck or poke you require on your car. Check out stanceworks.com if you wanna know more. its not just about drop anymore, you need the stance and the et set just right too. when i lowered my ripple bonnet, it was a massive jibe t the beetle boys who would spend loads on getting the car to sit that low, so they were green with envy to find out all we citroen guys just need our 9mm spanners and an hour, if that? the beetle boys went several steps further in order to run their cars lower, by the introduction of narrowed suspension, at first the front, then for a while, the back too. now it seems everyone is on the airride bandwagon due the availablity and the fact that real hydaulic suspension is so much more expensive and not all that available, here in the uk.

i hope im not teaching you all to suck eggs, but just my 2 pfennigs/ francs worth
