I remember asking James Grantham about that car, which had rather serious negative camber at both ends.

Its first outing in that guise was at Mallory Park and James said it was almost impossible to get it to go round the hairpin without it wanting to head into the other side of the 'island'.

Now that's what you call oversteer... :lol:

doesnt it result in a) really peculiar tyre wear and b) horrific handling? Are there advantages? I'm guessing there are advantages to slight camber as opposed to uber chavy camber?

In relation to the pic Russ posted a)yes b)yes. Are there any advantages? Only if you want to look like a nob and get pulled over by plod for having a car that looks like the wheels are about to fall off.
It's common to find both positive and negative camber on production cars, always done with good reason, but rarely more than a few degrees. Race cars might have a few more degrees, where handling is more important than tyre wear.

2 1/2 deg aint going to make much diferance on a road car with an element of toe in it helps to bring tha back end round ....apparently.

as for pointless modification have a look at "BarryBoys" forum

its juvenile in that it goads "chavs" into justifying their cars and then has a "flame war" or name calling session


sometimes quite funny in a guilty pleasure sort of way,see "Barry Gold" some of our cars may already be there :lol:

Hi, just found this:

"He cuted rear axle in the middle, and weld it lower in order to give camber. This is not really good idea cause the screws broke few time ago! So he made special screws. Now and it should be ok...

But I think the best should me to modify rear arms instead of the rear axle, the idea of negative camber is good, it looks fun!"

Don't know how much angle he's got on it, might not have the same problem with less angle, and Geoff approves the principle.
