Charity Safari 1995
OK so here you go some more nostalgia photos from the last century :D There are some familiar cars in there somewhere... I remember it being a great event, very slickly organised, great weather, and didn't Blue Peter cover the event too? Enjoy the pictures!

Image
Tarquin's Ami in the foreground here. Also an orange mehari with longhorns

Image
H Van subtly pretending to be a 2cv attempting to infiltrate the event

Image
Very clean old van, is it still about?

Image
Remember reading the restoration of this Mehari from 2 wrecked ones in 2cvgb mag, think the car was called Rufus, but can't remember the names of the couple who owned it.

Image
The traction owner is doing something unspeakable to a monkey in the background

Image
This one used to be around every event, wonder who owns it now?

Image
At the campsite, a high top Acadianne.

Image
Hertfordshire Hillhoppers cars - Oscar (dead) - Red (ressurected eh Neil?) - Noisy (mine) - Frankie's Dyane (?)

Brilliant pics again, Chris!

I didn't go on the charity safari - i was too busy riding my BMX to be bothered! My Mum & Dad did go & had a great time!

This:

was & AFAIK still is Gary Dicks' ex.EDF azu - It was on display for a few years at the bubble car museum, but he has it back now.

The silver AZAM? was i think owned at one time by Mike Cooper, who used to run Frome 2cv & later took on the bubble car museum! It too was featured in a magazine write-up many years ago.

The Acadiane camper i haven't seen for years - there was a pick-up, which was basically an Acadiane with the back sawn off that was (IIRC) in the process of being turned into a camper by Dory's of Sway. I could be wrong, my memory aint great! Dan Fletcher owned the pick-up B587 SEL for a fair while.

Mannie at Bristol 2cvs owned the red & white chequered 400 - i've not seen it since about 1999.

G239 TYO - Helen Browne's red special 'Eric' is AFAIK on the mend - i'm sure Will could fill us in on some details?

Frankie's Dyane - i can't see the plate, but wondered if it was OCH 163W? if so then that was Max's first car & has been through Jono, Rumble? & is now owned by Sarah Laffin. If it's not that plate, then that's all complete rubbish!

Yep - currently slowly being rebuilt after it's accident a couple of years ago. In fact I did a day's hard graft on it only other week and it is now nearly ready - got it running, interior starting to go back in, all panels painted and ready. Should be back on the road in May, providing the DVLA sort themselves out as it's a cat c.

Charity safari was good fun iirc, met loads of people who are still good friends to this day. It was my first event with Mavis!

Your Mum & Dad are interviewed on the 'official' video & you're in the background!

You're welcome Neil :D Yes I'm pretty sure it was OCH 163W, the last time I saw it was in the late 1990s or 2000, when it was no longer red but covered in (I think rattlecan painted) spots all over having been re-chassied or re-bodied, can't remember which, at some point. So it lives on? if so thats great, If there are any photos around I'll send the link to Frankie, I'm sure she'd be delighted to know its still about.

However, I don't know why I keep posting these old pictures,

Don't. i was 18 at the time!

Have a look at Harry's pictures, the 5th one down has a picture of OCH 163W.

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1244&start=130

There's also a OCH 161W that's still around too. It featured in the magazine around September/October last year as a double page picture. So i guess it could be that one?

I _think_ there's OCH163W and OCH161W. Frankie might not be that delighted to know, since I think she's still got it - she was at Reg last year.

<checks> Yep, both are taxed. 161 must be Frankie's, as it's down as green.

Hah! Young Neil beat me to it by seconds...
