Spookend

For a couple of years I camped at one of the countries leading folk festivals but juvenile 'fun' of teenagers screaming and shouting through the night until 4am ruined many campers nights sleep. Never again. I sleep badly enough as it is 12.5mm above the ground let alone the aggrevation of that sort of thing. The following mornings, the area around their small circle of tents was trashed with litter and empty bottles. It's B&B should I ever return.

Dont do the French national.

Or bring earplugs... (they work for me in those kind of situations)

That's how I deal with it, plus when you've got your beer jacket on it doesnt matter if it's cold either.

It's slowly appearing to me that neither of these would be my 'cup of tea'. You see I wouldn't scream and shout and disturb others after (say) midnight as it's bloody rude and inconsiderate, therefore I don't expect others to do it to me. Acting like hooligans and trashing the place is not my idea of having a good time.

They're not acting like hooligans and they're not trashing the place, they're just having fun. I don't think I've ever seen anything even remotely resembling hooligan behaviour at a 2cv camp.

At many larger camps - especially 2CVGB's INTERnational and World Meetings, there's a designated 'quiet area' where people who'd rather go to bed early and get a good night's sleep can camp. All people in these areas are asked to remain quiet after, say, 10pm, and they generally respect that. The French National does tend to be quite loud quite late, but it's mostly common sense - if you pitch up next to a big bunch of younger people who've got their stereos playing during the day, they'll probably still be making noise at night. On the other hand, if you pitch up in an area with families and/or older people, you'll probably only get woken up by kids running around at 7am and people snoring all night.

Usually, if the marquee/bar stays open late, the late-night noise stays in/around there, but if it closes early, the noise inevitably transfers back to the campsite as the happy people want to carry on having fun for a few more hours.

There's usually a place for all at 2cv camps, and Waggel must be one of the friendliest camps in Europe.

Mine neither really, but we have to keep in mind that is a meeting for all, so, offcourse one would be able to speak and laugh and drink during the night, just keep it down a little, no music and think about the people arround you.

I mean, people talking, laughing and just being there is part of camping, period, i have no problems with that, it's the excesses i find troubeling.

Getting myself wasted on beer, passing out only to sleep, is no issue here, my kids will be awake at dawn anyway, how little sleep the may have had during the night, lol....

All this being said, i hope people will show up from overseas and have a great time, meet new and old friends and when they go home, look back at a nice meeting.

Unfortunately i did....at waggel too. Fireworks in the middle in the night in a bone dry forrest campsite? Driving arround drunk among kids playing? Sorry, but then you do have a beef with me indeed. I will stand up for that in case needed. And i did tell the people who organized the meeting, this will never happen again, or me and my family will give up membership, even though we are one of the longest members arround in the club. There was taken action, it did happen again, but the people were banished later on. That is action i can approve off from a meeting organizer.... Since then, yeah it was a little noizy here and then, but, talking it over made it stop, or lower volume, action completed. It is no fun to have a gestappo kind of police having to walk arround, right? Just, can't we all get allong, hahahaha

(damn, look at me, 32, talking like an elderly couple, hahahaha)

is not a problem if they stay on the noise area .
normally there is all so a quiet area for relax people or people who feel old or have kids for example .
before i standing all so over there now with kids i moved over to the other area and when they sleep i still feel young for go drunk have fun a whole night with music and noise .
i have peace with that so long if they stay on that side .
and not brake the rules or stuff from other people .
that is wath 2cv all about free and peace the whole week-end ;-)
live and leth living something like that
