 Re: French National 2010
Typed out a long post then someone came round and i left it before finishing and it timed out and i lost it oh well cant be arsed to do it all again We had a good time anyway ,i prefered it to Dunkerque ,maybe down to the surroundings and area i dont know. We were parked up and camping on a verge down the bottom of the visitor car park field due to arriving late . Picked up a police municipale irregular parking warning in the Dieppe Aire de Camping Car , was it due to them disbelieving that people could be asleep in an azu 250 motorhome among all the 30 grand jobs on display and therefore it must be just parked there or was it just the fact we didnt have a ticket due to no change for the machine Thanks Paul grifftravel for sorting the doors and nice to meet you, should have introduced myself to a few others but i didnt get round to it plus i wasnt pissed enough this weekend or is it just that sometimes i am an unsociable git ,probably a mix

 Re: French National 2010
To echo many peoples comments - not as good as Dunkerque - no beer tent, rocks/dust/slope are not as suitable for camping and cars as the nice flat grass in 2008. Biggest problem is that they can take in so much money (I would guess €150,000 or thereabouts) and not provide adequate water supply or decent bogs/showers. All of these were well sorted in 2008. I guess that the individual clubs just do it their own way and there is no parent committee to advise. The reserved space for clubs caused me to move the tent 4 times before I found somewhere where I was welcome. I kept hoping for a lighting bolt to strike the Club Mehari banner and it's president!
Nevertheless, a good time seeing people, buying on the fleamarket, exploring further afield. The convoys down and back were fun. I like the way that even business men in new executive cars will let a 2cv out of a side turning. That never happens in the UK.

Reply from the President of the World Meeting Organisers for 2011 at Salbris. Russell if you want to move this post or duplicate it elsewhere please do. Bonjour Paul. Best regards. Christian COURTE Translation:- Hello Paul. To date we have not decided to reserve areas for clubs. In Salbris the area available is large (the camping area is 1000m long x 650 m wide, see the aerial photo on http://www.2cvfrance2011.fr). If our forecasts are correct it would be difficult to place us several thousands of cars in a few hours. We encourage pre-registered and be at the opening at the site Tuesday morning. Best regards. Christian COURTE

 Re: French National 2010
Rolled off the ferry at Dover, at 8:45pm last night, and got home at 1:15am Had to detour to my 'rent's house to drop off the Combi-Camp, and had a bit of difficulty getting it onto the corner of the lawn where it lives, managed it after 10minutes of faffing. Only stop between Dover & Worcester was Clackett Lane services on the M25, for fuel and a Ginsters Good to meet old and new 2cv friends, was a blast at the pre-meeting camp at Trouville, though as some of you are more than aware, I moved off down the field on the 2nd(or 3rd ) day of the French Nat. there were just too many tents in that one area!! Need to sort my photos out now....Mostly of Ripples

So - if they do - all we need to do is put "I2F" as the club, and Bob est ton oncle.
However, we pre-booked for Salbris - and the form didn't ask about your club, so I guess not.
If the pitches are marked out according to the number of pre-bookers per club, what about the non-prebookers of the same club who arrive on the day. They would have to camp somewhere else if they don't fit on the allocated area - as demonstrated at this year's meeting. So essentially then this gives us one camping area for prebookers, and one for non-bookers? For whatever reason, not everyone is able to pre-book and I think the organisers need to consider this during the WM site planning. One this that struck me when walking round the site was some allocated areas rammed full of tents on top of each other (such as 2cvgb's), while others seemed to have only two or three tents/cars on a similar size area with great big empty spaces. It made the site look quite unbalanced to me. Just my 2p worth.

Or was it just luck if you got on, and then the overspill had to be dealt with when it became full? I just thought it was a not entirely successful way of doing things, (speaking as a non-prebooker - I'm sure if I had pre-booked and had a guaranteed space I'd probably have been quite happy with it)
