Hello all,

I have a 1968 M4 engined Dyane that I brought back in from France a few years ago and is now UK registered but I am trying to sort out a couple of issues.

One of which relates to the clutch adjustment. It has a 'tin top' gearbox with the overhead clutch fork. The bite point is right at the bottom of the pedal travel and sometimes I have to press pretty firmly to be able to engage 1st/reverse. If I try and adjust the cable I can't seem to get it disengage properly. It has the cable with the adjuster at the bulkhead and it looks the same as two other cars of the same age.
I'm probably misunderstanding something but I thought when the clutch wears out the bite point comes to the top of the pedal travel?

Any suggestions for what might be going on please?

Worn out clutch plate? I had once the disk where the coalring bearing of the clutch pushes on. It was worn from the underside were it pushes on the 3 fingers so i hadn't enough way to free it up. The coalring might be worn too.

Do you have carpets or mats?

yes nice idea too.

It has the rubber mats.

Be sure it isn't getting stuck on the mat.

Had a friend who asked me to sort out his 4x4 clutch as it wouldn't disengage properly. So we set aside a weekend to do it. I got to his farm, and got in the car. Looked down, pulled back the extra mat he had in there and said try it for me. It was fixed. Easiest pint I ever earned.

Hi all,
Does anyone have any tips for replacing the graphite release bearing on an overhead clutch fork please? I can't rotate it enough to get the old one out, let alone a new one in (which I think will be harder being thicker).

Are they not like the later models. Thing is, us amateurs probably only ever change one of them!

I thought the spring prised out and that's what held it there.
