Here are some pictures of my Charleston in its final moments. I was going to turn it into a pickup, since it appeared to be mostly the back end that was rusty, but as I stripped out the shell it became increasingly apparent that the front end was just as bad. Everything was rusty, except the new (ish) bits - sills and floors - which had been badly fitted with the aid of lots of filler. In the end, I didn't really have to cut it up, it just sort of folded neatly away with very little effort on my part. Most of it is in a bucket outside my house now, waiting to go to the tip.

It was all going so well ...

Bonnet hinge. And it was just as bad underneath, I could put my finger through the bulkhead top

Maybe I should have kept it as a nature reserve

Rear sweeps ... from the inside

"B" post to sill ... I just had to lean on this and off it came

Even the dashboard shelf was rusty

Someone had made a horrible job fitting the new sills :o

So there it is. Possibly some of you would have saved it, but I really haven't got the money, the time or the space and I'd rather keep the mechanicals (which are pretty good) for any future A series acquisitions. If nothing else, this series of photos should at least give people an idea of where the rust can take hold. If anyone needs any bits, either post on here or drop me a PM and I'll see if I've managed to salvage whatever it is you need.

Yep, i had once car like that. Just drove it thorough winter. Spring time did some work and it passed MOT here :0 Hahaa. Then just fixed it peace by peace. Never without rust, but good to drive.
