Well, hello there.....

First of all, my nick and my 2cv are both Spookeend (Ghost-Duck)
Combination of my last name, the fact that i dive a 2cv (my first car, bought it when i was 17, 32 now) and not to mention, that my car really is a Ghost, been dead 2 times......

So, well, me, daddy, 32, one 5 year old boy, one 1,5 year baby girl, and, well, married, (damn do i feel Al Bundy here)

My car was a 1982 black special, got crashed outside my guilt, papers confiscated, drove a visa, hated it, bought a 1986 with broken front, my 1982 had a broken backside, cut m both in half, welded them to one car, put 1986 plates on a new chassis, and still running, done 485.000 KM's sofar.... 3rd engine, modified avo shocks, big-bore cylinder set, tuned it, lowered it, grinding it to it needs welding again (like every year)

Doing weird stuff, like most 2cv drivers, but add a little music to it. Partipating in a 2cv in audio contests is really nice, and fun to do.

well, here is one picture, made in 2005, got 4000 more on my site, for those who like browsing, hahahahaha http://www.spookeend.nl

So, well, let me see what this forum is all about......

Hi there Spookeend.

Looks like the picture was taken at the Beekse Bergen Wagel. If so I probably heard your car in the decibell contest.

(if only they made audio equipment waterproof I could fit it to the 4x4!!)

Hello spookeend. ICE (in car entertainment) :) to see you here.

Love what you do with the in car audio. Im into music etc, but i dont have the patience to do installs like you do. Good work.

Any videos of it all working?

There should be some vids somewhere, but i can't remember if that was my 2cv or my friends 2cv (also ICE by little me), have to check for that.....

But that is not really much more then base distortion sound, no cam can get that right at that volume really.....

The game is playing loud on low freqs, not just make a lot of noise.
Last time we did almost 140 db on 50 hz. With one woofer..... IN a 2cv, and that car is our biggest handicap really....

spookeend,
what's the limiting factor with a 2CV?

Does the windscreen pop out, if you hit a frequency which causes sympathetic resonance?

ken.

Post subject:  Re: Spookeend

we measure pressure, not the actual sound, so to say.
There are various classes

SQ : Sound Quality
SPL : Sound Pressure Level
SQL : Sound Quality Loud

SQ is a contest where judges sit in your car and try to evaluate the sound best. There is some equipment that can help setting the judge right, but it's mostly by hearing only.

SPL is just raw heavy bass. Great surface subwoofer, way overpowered, just to make that burp (variations in classes, burb is a sinus tone, one frequency to where the subwoofer box is tuned, mine is tuned to 50 hz) or play music, mostly some kinda rap stuff and that is then the music class. This is measured with an SPL meter, this can detect pressure.

SQL is what i play and have in my car, i have a front set, and i can listen to music aswell. Not only low freqs and my class competes with music.

The 2cv is a horrible car to keep pressure inside of, the roof, the doors, it is all not to heavy made, and so you loose a lot of pressure. If i put this install in lets say a Xsara Coupe and make it good soundproof, i think the meter will go up to 148 DB instead of 140 in the 2cv.

And that 8 DB difference in pressure is so much, so very much, it equals about double in sound.

It's hard to explain really, lol, i will try to find an English website with better information about this.
