Boot floor done all apart from the drop tank which will fit in the hole left in the floor. This will be big enough to fit my trolley jack and all the other shite i carry in my normal car boot.

Got the front belly pan back from James 'the engineer'. He's made a lovely job of cutting out the air intake vents for me, Cheers James :D .

Au contraire ,the swastika on the tail was erased by political correctness.
The wings on ww2 german aircraft (and airfix kits) have the iron cross symbol ,not disimilar to that used by todays german airforce ,which is the same as that used in WW1 .

You won't find the swastika on the box art of Airfix kits because it is illegal to to display it in public in Germany (so it was done so as not to deprive the Germans of models), you will however find the correct markings on the decal sheet
inside! ;)

Apologies for thread drift and off-topic stuff, but it's a little known fact that the RAF (briefly) flew Westland Wapiti aircraft with swastikas on them - in Iraq (!) I believe.

There are very few photos of the aircraft, but the official history of 84 Squadron (which flew these aircraft) used another image (with a swastika on the fuselage) for a cover picture.

Fitted an Austin Mini fuel tank as it fits around the rear wheel arch a treat and allows the twin exhaust system to go where i want it to. With the original tank in place it would have got in the way of the exhaust. Ive gained extra space in the boot by sinking the box into the floor between the chassis rails. I will be fitting a 'fake' rear engine sump guard to this also so at a glance the 'box' should look like the original VW engine once i have painted it. :D :D

Took full advantage of the bank holidays that we have had here in England and got a shit load done on the 'Kubel'.
Anyway the photos show the story so far>>>>>

The tube welded in the middle of the two front seats is to hold a machine mounting for the MG34 type machine gun which will soon be adorning the Kubel. As luck would have it, it just happens to be the ideal height to mount the seat belts on 8-) :D :D

unless Tony has placed the pipe all the way through the chassis and either strengthened the chassis internally or had a 'kin huge plate underneath.....i dont think that pipe can be considered "safety" in any way at all

Hoping it doesn't need a SVA test or even sees a diligent MOT tester :?

Thanks Sean. Yeah its a bit more secure than it looks, involving a lot of extra welding and plating etc, but to be honest, if i had a choice i wouldnt have fitted any seatbelts as it spoils the effect im trying to create. Unfortunately though the MOT testers dont quite see it the same way.
When im at car/military shows i will be hiding the belts with a camo net or jacket and german helmet etc.
Lets face it we all drove cars for many years without belts before thay made them compulsory.
Personal choice i guess.
One thing for sure is that the structure is a lot stronger than it was when it rolled of the Citroen production line ;)
