Terry wrote: Hi Mr Nail ..... I guess working as a doorman, you've no doubt given a few of the above mentioned little b*st*rds a lesson or two ....but here's a heartwarming story. About five years ago,I was about to park my 2CV outside the local Chippie [Fish & Chip shop] .....a gang of about 8 to 12 year olds were hanging around outside, and one them [obviously the ringleader] asked me "Why I was driving such a bag of sh*t". My reply was unprintable, but at that point he backed away to a safe distance [over the road] .....and then made it obvious that as soon as I'd gone in the shop my car would be his target. Now I'm pretty fit for my age,but theres no way I'm gonna catch a 12y.o. However ....my car may look tidy from outside, but I'm the worlds worst at keeping the interior tidy, and as I'd recently changed the spark plugs I'd simply thrown the old two in the boot .... Have you ever considered how good a weapon a spark plug makes when thrown? .....my first throw was about 3ft from target .....I aimed for his head .....fortunately,I missed and hit him in the groin [another two inches to the left and I'd have turned him into an Eunuch]. He immediately went down and laid on the floor screaming [all his mates had run off by now] .....at which point I walked over to him and [after threatening him with a "a good kicking"] offered to help him up,and then give him a lift home in the "bag of sh*t" .....where-upon I promised him that I would give his father a good pasting too. He declined my offer, although I could tell that I had really genuinely hurt him. The story did'nt end there ....a few weeks later,I was recounting the story [in the local pub] to a friend, and from my description of the lad,my mate pointed out the kids father [it seems my pals brother had some aggro with the kid previously] ...... I then confronted the father [who was a complete "waste of oxygen"] ....I told "Dad" the story ....needless to say "Daddy" backed down from my offer of continuing our "discussion" in the pub car park and me fulfilling the promise I'd made to his little twunt of a son. Fast forward about four years ......to only last summer,I saw that kid and his dad coming outa the local Chemists Shop ......the youth was obviously 8 miles high [on Methadone I suspect] .....seems he'd got himself hooked on heroin [or some other cr@p which they insist on injecting themselves with]. I was sitting in the "bag of sh*te" at the time ......I gave daddy a knowing smile .... ..... Poetic Justice I call it .... best regards T. Just been casually reading my way through this great thread, interesting to hear other people having problems with 2cv related abuse from idiots. I had my first experience the other day since I bought the Acadiane. I was driving down Edge Lane in Liverpool at school home time, kept stopping at the lights, I had bottles thrown at me, kids bending the mirrors, rocking the car, banging on the windows, mad stuff, all sorts of insults. This was just weird how much they were riled by the car. Its not as if you can do a lot about while sat in traffic. Depressing really.

Yes I've had stones thrown at me, sad isn't it.
It speaks more about the state of the nations psyche than it does of a reaction to an old car though, we should all be very worried for the future.

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
I grew up in Chorley in the late 80s, we had a Charleston and a Celeste, it was bad then, I'm not surprised its got worse actually, but was still numbed by it. There seems to be an extra element to it now, some serious anger and hatred, before it was kids having a laugh getting out of hand, and if you told them they would perhaps realise what they had done (remember a couple of hairy drives through Adlington when I was a teenager getting a lift), you could sort of see why they were doing it, now its the lack of any sort of conscience at all that worries me.

I have it mild by comparison; "Hey, need a hand with that engine?" "S'all right thanks, it's quite light" "What's it off, BMW bike?" "Citroen 2CV" "F****ing weirdo" <Drives off>

Had lots of weird looks whilst polishing it the other day, f*** em...

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
I had a good one a few years ago when I'd just passed my test, a load of youths decided this new car in town needed a good kicking. The first incident was stupidly at work (I work in tesco- loads of cameras) about ten of them surrounded me in it as I left off. I threatened to reverse into whoever was stood behind the car and proceeded to start the car, forgetting the kill switch I'd fitted it didn't start. Feeling like a right fool I threw it into reverse let off the handbreak and by the time the engine fired I was roaring backwards before the goon could completely move out of the way. Once I got home I noticed one had emptied the entire contents of a coke can on my roof. The second time was when a full can was thrown at it putting a rather good dent and scratch down the side of the car, I anchored on the breaks and sprinted down the road after him with an extendable wheel brace. The third time I had three cars follow me home so I turned round before I got home and headed to a mates, on the way they tried to box me in and stop the car. I managed to find a way out and get to my mates got out of the car, as I walked to the gate the cars pulled up and I heard a loud clap, I got into the house and realised I'd been hit with an airgun pellet that went threw a hoodie and a t-shirt and into my skin. I've never found out why they had so much hatered towards me

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
and this was while you were in your van? holy shit mate thats bloody harsh, makes my small incident in L'pool look tame, hope you were ok after getting hit! You'd think in a way they would appreciate your car, in a perfect world, but I suppose its different, and people like that can't handle difference, its beyond their brain power to compute, so it turns to hate instead. Makes you dream about fitting a snow plough and going on a rampage I've lived in Peckham, Brixton and Hackney, never had any trouble, ran old cars, the most I had was an egg or two - its the provincial areas that are worrying. I've moved to a far civil place to escape but you still get a bit of abuse, but nothing to that extent (yet). I suppose missioning around at night, will boy racers lurking can cause some trouble. Experienced a bit leaving Bristol at 2am on a Friday night.
