The painting is absolutly amazing and superb. As a "painter" myself I am staggered by what you are doing. I love all the detail, but the whole composition and shading is just fantastic.

This is just superb!

The way you write too is inspirational.....

...please...please...keep this thread up...

Enjoyed every bit of this.

Thank you for this.

Amazing stuff

Can't understand this 'issue' with poor illumination, I've had tungsten yellow bulbs since pretty much the start of my 2cv'ing days(and nights ;) ), and I can see perfectly with them.

On a big plus though-I can't believe how fresh your car still looks, appears to have never seen a speck of dirt, let alone been used daily. Nice one O-N.

i thoguht that, after riding a motor bike through winter with no full beam working, just low beam, visability being a metre (yes, i wouldnt know it was a corner till i saw the white line approach)

but i did notice a humongoes difference with halogens, however i personally feel that the standard bulbs do just fine for me, and arent an issue, but i geuss its personal choice

the only one thing i do feel about standards is that on low beam you cant quite see as much as id like, but on full it is fine!

I think it's what you get used to. I did a couple of winters a while back on yellow bulbs and I thought they were ok, until half way through the second winter when I fitted some white halogens to try them out and the difference was very noticeable. I could see (and be seen) further up the street!

I'm only in favour of practical mods to old cars, as I believe that situational awareness and defensive driving are the best safety features a driver can have. The uprated lighting in winter is as much an aid to myopic Volvo drivers as myself, in order that they don't shunt me. For that reason I'll fit the eye level brake light, as people have become used to seeing that when the car in front is braking. I've put red LED tail lights in too.

After the paint had hardened I waxed it using old style solid carnuba wax, harder work but pretty good stuff and it beats all this modern silicon products hands down. The photo above shows the car after travelling at least 120 miles home via the M6 through pure thrashing rain. Road spray from wagons and all that the weather could throw at it just ran right back off it.

Before I took the photo I had just wiped it over with a damp sponge, and buffed the surface of the bonnet where the ribbons had been flapping against it (I used it as my wedding car) and it was back to good again. 8-)

I think BMW drivers are far,far worse though, and I'm sure there's a scientific study somewhere online, to back me up :D
