If you'd managed to combine these two adventures, fame and fortune would surely have followed... ken I did make the papers Ken, albeit anonymously. http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/archive/2000/03/27/Lancashire+Archive/6088474.Showpiece_fountain_turns_blue/The calender sold thousands of copies too btw, raised a lot for charity that did. I think I still have a copy somewhere. I was working as a gym instructor by day and a doorman by night at the time, and was beating women off with a stick back then! It's how I met my current Mrs, Who needs fame eh?

I came across this photo on the net the other day. It was taken at the classic show that I attended a few weeks ago, not by me I might add. Closer inspection will reveal that I have been captured behind the car - lowering the tone by swigging heartily from something long and cold. How strange it was to suddenly see myself in someone else's photo stream.

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
I keep having to remind myself that the 2CV is a true classic now because when I had my first cars, they were 10 a penny but looking at a car like yours - it really fits in at an "all makes" car rally. It really is a credit to you

I know what mean Mr Nail .....I was amazed when I had this photostream posted to me a few weeks ago. http://www.simoncars.co.uk/citroen/cheveux.htmlThe red car being used to illustrate several "features" of 2CV's is mine .....amazingly,it took me 5 minutes to work out where [and a phone call to a friend whos MG is parked next to mine] to work out when the pics were taken .....and I have no recollection of anyone actually photographing my car there. best regards Tel ....

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
I enjoyed looking through that link Terry there was some nice photo's on there. Interesting to see the page on those Standard Vanguards too as I've had two of those, cracking cars they were. The other page showing a run down Standard 8 like the one above reminded me of a painting that I did as a commission last winter. It was for an old guy that had one. He asked that the painting be set at night, and in the depth of winter, and that the car was to be shown in a 'frozen and abandoned' state. The idea being that it would represent his own car which he had since restored from a derelict condition. I did the painting, even adding an old coach lamp to it for a bit of contrast, to suggest that someone had found the car and was preparing to save it. When it was finished I emailed the image to him and he was overjoyed with it, and couldn't wait for the original to arrive he said....and then the poor bugger died! Consequently he never got the painting and I still have it somewhere!

Why don't you keep the BlueBamboo for Mrs Old-Nail (wasn't it she who wanted you to keep it in the first place ) and build the suicide door 602 ultimate nail mobile just for yourself?

Why don't you keep the BlueBamboo for Mrs Old-Nail (wasn't it she who wanted you to keep it in the first place ) and build the suicide door 602 ultimate nail mobile just for yourself? She won't drive, is the short answer. She can...but won't, too nervous in today's traffic. I think I've also done the daftest thing in making this car my sole mode of transport, which means that anything from journeys to the tip, to funerals, or serious meetings with grown up people in suits, must all be attended in this same 2cv. I've also lost count of the number of sets of pants that I've ripped the backside out of on the door catch of this car while getting in, and it's claimed another pair yesterday. I'm quickly becoming disenchanted. It was indeed Mrs Nail that got all sentimental about 'our' 2cv, which lead to my spending twelve months in the garage, but I think my heart must be hardening in old age as I feel no such attachment. And with every new pair of jeans/shorts/trousers I buy, I feel even less. Suicide doors, that's what I need.
