Sam, a D*lly is still a 2cv and we are still losing them to the scrapman, so it will become rare, and it will become historically important(as one of the last of the line).

It's worth remembering that twofiftyAZU's car was designed for exactly the same things. Even though it is now rare.

These are both very valid points. Perhaps I should amend what I said and say that Dollys are percieved as not historically important ;)

It would be a shame if in a hundred years there were hundreds of immaculately preserved sloughs, bijous, azams and the like and not a single D*lly

Bollocks. :D

If I preserve my car for a future generation, what happens if it get's stacked heavily a week after I sell it to 'the future generation'? I'd rather do WTF I want with it and 'ruin' it myself. It's a car, it has a finite life anyway, we're really taking the piss by still using them nowadays anyway (How long did Citroen expect them to last?).

Adrian, I guess you're going to rebuild your mehari as factory spec? then rebuild the AmiSuper it sits upon to factory spec? then find a nice GS to build around the engine in it too? ;)

If it were my Belgian hybrid oddball rarity though, I'd quite like to see it restored as close to original. Or at least, minty running gear under that ropey looking body. But i want to live the 425cc dream...

Bit late for that... Anyway, none of those were "one of seven" when new and the only survivor...

So how many cars have to be produced/exist before we're allowed (or at least, 'it's socially acceptable') to do as we please with them? I thought there were 5,000,000 odd 2cvs made, not just seven?

Yup, I am a serial swapper of cars. Something else I want more and have been after for ages has come up and I can't afford it. My AZU and the B plate white 2CV lurking in the shed will also be paraded on Evil Bay.

There is supposed to be a history file, but it hasn't been found yet.

Apparently there's a guy on the 2CVGB forum that used to own this a few years back & has a fair bit of history for it...
