You're kidding me right?
Although I must admit those blue surgeon type gloves just melted on my fingers when I used Nitro so I gave up on them. Are you gonna paint that thing next? maybe you need this? ;)

Excellent suggestion, O-N.

However, before discussing painting apparel, I think it's important to make sure that protection against nasty Nitromors splashes is assured. An extensive trawl of, ahem, the finest protective-clothing sites that the internet has to offer has revealed the perfect item:

Nice one Erik it does too. I'm just wondering what kind of sites Smiffy is visiting for advice on restoration?

When i use nitromors, i use regular latex gloves when i paint it on. and then just jet wash it off. no need to scrub at it.

O-N: I just googled "stripping techniques" and found all sorts of advice, including ideas on what to wear!

Today I stripped the other rear wing. The weather is less warm and sunny; temperatures are 10C down on yesterday. Consequently, I had to work a little harder on this one, because the Nitromors took longer to get a hold on the paint, and the blistering was much less vigorous.

As I scoured the paint off, it stayed a lot gloopier than yesterday (when it dried almost as soon as I'd scoured it off the wing). Eventually, I resorted to occasionally dipping the scourer in water to clear the gunky paint out of it.

So, top tip: use Nitromors in warm, sunny conditions if at all possible.

In spite of having to work a little harder, this wing still took only 40 mins to strip... and the neighbours were impressed by my specialist apparel.

Good story, Smiffy! Had a yellow/black one before, a two-tone blue one, a two-tone brown one and a devilish matt black one even with the old hood - but never a white one! Loved this one straight ahead because it came from Switzerland (like me) and had the steering on the wrong side for Australia! Cannot even register it in NSW, my brother up in Queensland did that for me! But she looked like a virgin when I got her - a perfect start for creating my Panda!

Post Re: Snowy the Snail
Thanks, Ameletter.

Today I took the day off... giving me chance to do some jobs that I've been putting off for a while.

1. Stripped my front and back bumpers, ready for repainting (along with 1 front door, 2 back doors and the rear wings). Nitromors technique... sorted in 1/2 an hour.

2. Made a new upper-bulkhead trim. Did this by measuring up, then drawing the job up using AutoSketch (a stripped down, 2D version of AutoCad). Then I checked my measurements and made up a dummy version using some brown wrapping paper. Tried this for size and then refined my measurements a little. Finally, used the brown wrapping paper as a template, and used a scalpel to cut my final trim out of some black vinyl that I had left over after doing my door trims last year. Stuck it all on using hi-tack spray-on contact adhesive. Looks great! Well, it's good enough. A 2nd attempt would be perfect, but I really can't be bothered to do it again right now. Maybe next year. (Was planning to go for a light colour, but couldn't be arsed to drive into town to get some, and thought I'd make use of my leftovers.)

3. Replaced my speedo surround. I sprayed the new one in a sort of stone colour, to match the plastic heater/windscreen wiper cover, which I did a month or so ago. All looks v tasteful, especially with my Alpine white steering wheel. Speedo's ticking like a flippin sowing machine now though, so I guess I'll have to do some pesky adjustments... one day.

Here's my revamped cabin:

You won't be able to see details or dimensions here, but if you'd like a version just let me know and I'll PM you an image that you can work from or scale off... or if you prefer I'll send you a .dwg file (ie AutoCad format) for those who have access to cad software.

Oooooooh, that's gooooooooooood.

I can't get over how much better the light coloured interior trim looks compared to black.
