So not exactly as this pic, the little vertical flange at the bottom got tucked behind the number plate panel? Did you get any trouble with the number plate panel trying to ripple?

Exactly as you say. Welded inside and outside. The ends tucked behind the rear sweeps. I got the boy to put pressure on the number plate panel as I tacked it on to stop it rippling.

Threw a coat of paint at it today. Did the rear doors and a few bits I'd had in primer for a while, just to neaten it up a bit. Looks a bit tidier now.

Had to drive it home with a ratchet strap holding the doors shut and no windows, my daughter and I put it back together after tea and here it is. I'll do the rest at some point. It certainly isn't a pro job but it looks white again for the first time since I've had it.

Any man who makes his 2CV this white is of suspect character. ;)

This thread is one of my favourites. I love seeing this car improved in the true spirit of 2CVing.

Thank you. It doesn't stand up to close scrutiny very well, but when compared to how it looked the day I bought it...

Total cost so far, one 8x4 sheet of 0.6mm steel was £12.70, and paint and thinners cost me £43.80.
