 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
I've got an old door in the garage. When it comes a bit warmer I'll have a practice and see how it goes. I'll post it on here when I'm done.

I can only use cellulose due to the place I spray but you can still get a cracking finish with it. If I'm not out in the garage spraying then I'll only be roped into visiting garden centres and shit like that come summer. I've been prepping this thing for paint, which is one of the reasons besides lazyness that I haven't touched the van. I have 5 litres of Citroen midnight blue (bleu minuit) cellulose going begging of you want some paint. It is the dark blue on a blueberries and cream D*lly.

It's what Volvo used to make before budget cuts left their design team with one ruler and one pencil.

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
I envy you those facilities 250, I'd be like a pig in shite in there. There's one of those Volvo's on ebay at the moment I think, it's touching 15 grand too. Very nice car. Now you understand what I was saying about wanting to spray a car made of proper metal.

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
I couldn't find the actual car on eBay, O-N, but there's a set of bumpers for it - and that's over f-f-five hundred squid. Anyways, your own car is doing well! I trust there's no trace of misguided guilt still lingering around? It ain't just about the money (tho' that bit means you can continue to realise classic fantasies...) but more about what your car is 'worth' in its (struggling to find the correct words here) in its 'status'(?) amongst other 2CVs. You know your car is 'better' than many of the crocks that have gone before it, so this is an acknowledgement that other people appreciate what you've done with your car too. When I sold my Marlin a couple of years ago, it was after I'd designed and built a new burl-wood dashboard for it which had customised clocks with unique dials (made on the computer) and other stuff like stalks controls on the correct side of the dashboard surface (you'd have to be a Berlinetta owner to realise the significance of that!) - things that most other Marlins just didn't have (and a loooong article which had to be spread over 4 issues of the MOC magazine... ), and, if I say so myself, it transformed the interior and made the car look that bit better than the average one out there. Had it then fetched only an 'average' amount, I have to confess it would probably have 'hurt' a little bit - and not just my Scottish pocket It's an appreciative acknowledgement of what you've done.

Now you understand what I was saying about wanting to spray a car made of proper metal. Thar workshop is a friend of mine's, my own is bigger but messier 2CVs are in some ways trickier to paint than something solid like the Volvo. It is really easy on a 2CV door to end up with the frame behind the door skin showing through the paint if someone pressed on the panel slightly too hard when rubbing down. The last 2CV I painted was this Bamboo last April for some friends of my sisters. It also needed a new bonnet hinge and new floors and sills. mainly because of plates everywhere rather than rampant rust. The Volvo is an enormous project, everything has been stripped to bare metal, everything rebuilt. It'll be a good one once it is finished though.

It's an awful thing to say, or to have to admit on a public forum but because of my temperament I'm unable to stay happy with anything for very long. I need to keep moving, and lovely as the car is it's a done thing. I need the hit of a new adventure. The worse thing though is the insecurity of living like I do. I'm bi-polar, I do stuff even I can't explain sometimes, and a lot can happen in one day.
