When I switched the speedo in the van to a MPH one from a D*lly it didn't make a difference. It's reading MPH fine and matches the speed given on the GPS.

Is it an M4 you're sticking back in Tom?

Nothing

There was a 80's 602 in it, with the 2cv gearbox, with discbrakes (orignal has drumbrakes).
The original box has different ratios, and I wanted that back in the car, but not with the drumbrakes.

So now it will get a hybrid gearbox (housing for discbrakes, with the ratios from the Ami 6 Club Break), with the original engine, 35hp M28 :)

Nice touch with the gear box, I like it.

IMO this was the best solution.
Otherwise I had to rebuild the brake system back to DOT fluid (and then I would have drum brakes, and I don't want them), or I had to go out and look for a Ami 6 or 8 gearbox, with unknown condition.

Engine and gearbox are in, exhaust is connected (with some handy clamps from Burton. They say they wont leak anymore on the flanges.
Also fitted new brake discs and pads. the brakepipe from the master cilinder to the calliper is new as well as the bleeding nipple.

The engine (and box) has new engine mounts, and the fuelpump is changed for the one that came of the engine that was in the car. Also fitted a new clutch on it. had some problems with the release bearing, because the retaining clip was missing. Luckily Punky had one for me.

all that needs to be done now is service the engine, set the 123 ignition correct, bleed the brakes, and that should be it.
More works on the car tomorrow, hopefully I can give it a quick test run.

The engine runs!

Started today by tighteting the botls that hold the driveshafts to the gearbox. Couldn't reacht the lower ones, and it was hard to move the car with the front of the car standing next to it.

After that was done I set the valve clearances and set the 123 ignition right, so I could start te car. After some cranking it started and ran without a problem.

Finally mounted the front back on the car, with all the bolts because it now can stay on the car. The work that is left to do can be done with only the bonnet open:
- bleeding the brakes
- mount (pedal side) and adjust the clutch cable
- topping op the gearbox with oil
- change oil and filter
- recheck the heatexchangers, they leak a bit on the flanges. I took them out to tighten the driveshaftbolts, and couldnt get them on right.
- connect the cables for the heating

That should be it, the end is nigh!
