When they've got Dyane engines in they are, not when someones dropped a 2cv engine in there. Still it does have a lightened flywheel and bare in mind the other vehicles I drive are my cx prestige series one (which is for sale for £1k), my Motorbike (0-60 in 3.7 seconds), various bosses cars at work (amg c-class, 520d and 525d) and an assortment of police cars in my other job.

Yeh but you have more fun in a 2CV/Dyane, though Jono might tell you about a journey in one of my ex cars.

Very true, and don't forget to thrash it, Pete - it's how they like to be driven.

P.S. Don't ever let Grifftravel give you a lift in a Porsche in summer, with the heater stuck on, when you're hungover...

Thrash it? is there any other way? That hill near you is a killer Jono! both mum and I managed it in second in our respective vehicles but I see what you mean about going so fast that the wheels skip going round the corner.

well it's tipping it down out there and I almost had to stop and bail out in the Dyane! haha. I think water is coming in from the windscreen or wiper spindle as there was even water on the speedo! It was dripping on my leg from somewhere too.

Gutless on the motorway, barely made it up to 70 on a decline. Might have to invest some time and money sorting that out.

Otherwise... LOVING IT. Thank you Jono, you're a star.

Ta.

See, I told you it leaked!!

Let us know how you get on with giving it more guts - it did seem a bit lacking at the top end to me as well, although it gradually got better the more I drove it. I suspect it hadn't been driven properly (hard) by its pevious owner, and I, and now you, are waking it up again!

Jono and Pete,
did someone mention earlier that it's got a 2CV engine fitted?

If that is the case and the complete 2CV lump was dropped in, is it possible that a later 18/26 carb is still fitted, which would be running too lean once the Dyane's 'blower' was hooked up?

Assuming that the valve clearances and timing have already been checked (and adjusted if necessary? ) re-jetting could help improve matters further...

ken.

(Don't forget that thrashing an engine isn't always the answer and can be counter productive, especially if there's an underlying problem. ;) )

ken.

It'll be a couple of weeks before I get to have a look, I'm working this weekend and I've got to try and fit in solving the problems with the clutch on the 6Special...

Pete,
maybe just open the bonnet and have a look at the offside of the carb body?
If the embossed numbers are 21 & 24, it's the original Dyane carb, but if they're 18 & 26, then it's the later model. ;)
