I'm chasing the original PO bar but very hard to find.

This bar was sold at WM Scotland and produced somewhere in the UK

Any info, thanks

Genuine PO bumpers are like hen's teeth over here - they can sometimes be found in the autojumble at French National meetings.

As for the ones in your photo - I'd say take a look at the 'usual' suppliers - iirc ECAS do something similar.

As do 2cvCity.

The ones ECAS sell are built by Louis Barbour, and are made from the same materials and components as the 4x4 bumpers. They're damn near indestructible. They can be had without the "clumsy" light loops, too...

The ones 2cvCity sell are considerably lighter weight, with all that implies for their impact resistance...

Posted below is a real PO ('pays d'outremers' or 'protection organes' but NOT 'post office') bumper, the thing in Viking's pic is a tube welded to some angle iron.

A nice copy of the PO bumper was commisioned years ago by Richard Bartlett, then of the now closed 'Andyspares', there is not a real PO bumper made in UK now.

Thanks Roy
More and more people are asking me for the original PO bar. I'm sure if a good replica is made, it will sell fast. Many Raid cars prefer the PO.
Wonder where and who would make some.
Cheers

If you find someone to make em Im intrested too!
Lois barbour had the pipe bending tools so a good old one would make a good pattern

Top pic is a 2cv city affair.
your much more likley to get one your side of the Channel, spent WM looking at bumpers - cant stand "adventure bars"

Agreed! all I've achieved with adventure bumpers is bending the chassis when I'ce battered things out the way! I love the look of the PO bumpers though, they can't be too hard to make for any reasonable metalworker, if I had one (and some spare time) I'd have a bash myself.

Is there a PO spec rear bumper or only a front?

I'm guessing it might be what the Sahara 4x4 2cv's had on the back - basically a straight tube with brackets attached to bolt it to the chassis. A lot similar to what I've got on Mavis.

Just fancy stepping in and saying I quite like the 'adventure bars' with the light hoops. Not sure they'd look much cop on the dyane but I'd not hesitate to put them on a 2cv if I had one... :ugeek: <--- closest to beardy chappy I could see.

Viking, are you still looking for a PO bumper? Bjorn is advertising one over on the snail forum:
