Post subject:  'Running repairs' stop points across the country?

Chust had a thought from my Marlin days when they had a 'run' arranged in North Devon a couple of years back. I suggested that anyone requiring garage space and basic tools to carry out a 'fix' on their car would be welcome to turn up and use mine. This wasn't needed as it happened, but I guess it might be comforting to know there is 'help' available in a 'foreign' area if bits start to fall off your car while you are travelling?

Any mileage in arranging a similar idea for int2cvfriends users?

Ie: I'd be happy (possibly with some provisos - see later) to provide a contact phone number, address and an outline of facilities available (garage space, general hand and power tools, cups of tea, willing hands - few 'specialist tools, tho', and no welder unfortunately - (note to oneself, really must get welder...)) for anyone on here should they require assistance when travelling in this area (Bideford, Barnstaple - North Devon-ish.)

It might require 'vetting' of some sort since this is an 'open' forum. Eg: there might be some risk in making this info too generally available; after all, you are basically saying "there's a 2CV parked here!" So, it might have to be on a carefully-released basis; perhaps a list of members willing to provide help with a contact number and an idea of their location. Then, if you get into trouble while in that area, you could call up?

Chust thinking aloud.

It wasn't an issue with the paid-up members of the Marlin club as we all knew who was who!

Any thoughts?

it is a good idea, so much so that it's already been in place since 1975! The Finnish 2cv Guild publish a booklet called 'Apua - Help' & it lists many 2cv enthusiasts in upwards of 30 countries that are willing to help out should a breakdown occur or general help be needed.

here are some links regarding Apua:

a very handy booklet to have if you're into travelling distances!
